Grupo Mayan Resorts: Heart Disease in Younger Women
Recent studies have shown that heart disease in younger women is going un-noticed because of the fact that the symptoms of a heart attack in younger women are completely different than the symptoms in those of older women, say the Grupo Mayan experts in health and Fitness.
Studies indicate that women who are in their early 40’s either do not feel any signs or symptoms of a heart attack, whereas, women who are in their 50’s and older as well as women who have gone through menopause, experience more extreme symptoms. Most symptoms in women are different from what men go through, but the women going through or that have gone through menopause are reporting that their symptoms are very similar to that of a man’s symptoms.
We need to keep in mind that heart disease is still the number one leading cause of death among women over forty, say the Grupo Mayan experts in health and Fitness. Many women prior to turning 40 have had symptoms that have been easy to ignore, therefore the heart attacks are going un-noticed as well as un-treated.
The most common symptoms in women are pains in the shoulder, arm or jaw and then experiencing cold sweats, constant heartburn, nausea and commonly shortness of breath as well as, fatigue that happens directly before a heart attack when associated with physical activity.
It is believed that the reason the symptoms in younger women are going un-noticed is because their estrogen levels are much higher, say the Grupo Mayan experts in health and Fitness. This has seemed to have a big part in the difference of that of older women or men.
There is still tons of research to be done, but it is also believed that women who choose to go on hormone replacement therapy post-menopause also describe milder symptoms compared to those who chose not to do hormone therapy.
There are better ways to prevent this from becoming a big part of your life and changing your lifestyle, eating better, exercising more and prevention of other disease such as diabetes and quitting habits such as smoking and drinking will help greatly reduce your risk of becoming a victim of heart disease. As equally important, say the Grupo Mayan experts in health and Fitness, having regular check-ups will help indicate any problems that may be occurring without you knowing about it, and avoid waiting until you get the symptoms previously listed, because by then it might be too late. Most of this is all preventable by the way you choose to live your life and take care of your body.
